- Highlights on the roles and responsibilities of internal auditors, and reinforces with the competence requirements;
- Integrate Risk-Based internal audit concepts into the current Internal Audit practices to promote the value of the Risk-Based Internal Audit.
- The Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology for planning, conducting, reporting and following-up with internal audits, performed against the ISO 14001, emphasizing on the evidences to provide demonstration of compliance to this Standard.
- “Live Audit” to enhance the theoretical knowledge imparted, where a workshop is subsequently held for the internal auditors to present their audit findings.

Introduction to ISO 14001 & Auditing, including awareness of ISO 14001 requirements for internal audits, key definitions used by auditors, differentiating types of audits, and the benefits of internal auditing.
Standards Qualification of Internal Auditors, explaining the characteristics, roles, and responsibilities of auditors and audit team leaders, and the competence requirements for various types of auditors as defined by applicable standards.
Audit Planning, defining the responsibilities and activities for planning internal audits at macro and micro levels, emphasizing the Process Approach, and using workshops and assignments to design Process Maps, Audit Plans, and Audit Checklists.
Audit Execution, imparting knowledge, skills, and techniques for conducting audits, including opening meetings, sampling personnel and records, interview sessions, observation of operations, recording audit notes, auditor team meetings, and a practical “live audit” session if feasible.
Audit Reporting, Analysis & Follow-Up, explaining approaches to reporting audit findings, classifying findings, conducting auditor team meetings, preparing internal audit reports, role-playing closing meetings, investigating root causes, initiating corrective actions, and analyzing audit trends for planning verification of corrective actions.
